Artemis Fowl By Eoin Colfer

Artemis Fowl is a 12 year old criminal mastermind. He has pulled of more successful heists than most career criminals. He has a loyal body guard, Butler, who is his best friend and confidant. He has discovered the existence of fairies, and is out to get their gold. Fowl kidnaps a fairy, and takes her captive. While bargaining with the fairies he also must care for his delusional mother. Artemis's father is missing and his mother is sick and delusional with worry. Will he be able to get his gold and save his mother? Has he finally bitten off more than he can chew?

Recommendations: This is a very well written book. It is fantasy/sci-fi, but a very well mixed concoction. Eoin Colfer is another one of my favorite authors who has also written a book called, "The Supernaturalist". I would recommend this to any young adult reader who enjoys watching their world questioned. This book brings up questions about humans, and "make believe" creatures. Enjoy!
